Admissions

City School has an open admission policy. City school accepts applications and admits students from all parts of the city of Austin and surrounding communities regardless of academic ability. City School is a private non-profit institution. Therefore, tuition is charged to each family for children enrolled at City School. However, tuition is calculated on the basis of income level on a sliding scale. Therefore, all accepted families who apply and qualify for financial assistance receive it in accordance with their financial profile.

Important Dates:

  • November 8 – Open House
  • February 14 – New Student Application Deadline and Financial Aid Application due
  • February 22 – Student Placement Testing Kindergarten - 4th Grade (See instructions below for placement testing for 5th - 8th graders.)
  • March 7 – Admissions Notifications Sent
  • March 30 – Enrollment Agreement Due

Placement Testing for 5-8th Graders

Students applying to attend City School in 5th through 8th Grades are now taking the ISEE placement test. Several school in the area offer open testing which can be found at the following link: www.iseetest.org. Look for the tab "Register for the ISEE" and follow the instructions.

Notes about the process

  • Application decisions are made when the entire application has been completed.
  • Applicants receiving scholarships have the option of monthly payments throughout the year; the first month’s tuition is due April 1.
  • Parent or guardian should return the enrollment agreement along with a deposit to reserve the student’s place at City School.
  • A welcome packet including all necessary forms and deadline information will be mailed to families once the enrollment agreement has been received by the school office.
