Parental Involvement
We at City School believe that parents are integral to the academic success of children. It is a privilege to attend City School and there are sacrifices every parent must make for this special and unique place. Upon a child’s enrollment, parents/guardians are asked to sign a commitment to actively participate in their child’s education and to fulfill at least two hours of service per month.
Some
suggestions for ways parents are involved at City School are:
- Participate in City Council—the City School Parent-School organization
- Provide Individual Student Tutoring (reinforcement in core disciplines)
- Serve as special events coordinator
- Serve as fundraising and development assistant
- Serve as lunchroom assistant
- Arrange parties and other school events
- Administrative office assistance:
- Data entry
- Answer phones
- Filing and other paperwork
- Make phone calls and perform other administrative tasks
Parents should also perform the following activities
- Participate in all parent-teacher conferences
- Read all communications from the teacher and the administration
- Ask about the activities and lessons regularly
- Check to make sure all homework assignments are completed and sign the homework journal
